Hey! I’m Erika Burdette, a photographer and creative born and raised in the San Fernando Valley. I’m Mexican American, and I first got into photography in high school after I started going to concerts. What started as taking photos for fun eventually grew into a passion for event photography and working within the music scene.
Outside of photography, I’m usually out with friends, thrifting, getting coffee, or going to shows. Even though I love working at events, I still enjoy experiencing them as a fan. I’ve always been drawn to darker aesthetics, tattoos, piercings, and alternative fashion. I enjoy creating in different ways, whether that’s photography, graphic design, video, or editing. I started editing photos and videos in 2020 and have been experimenting with different creative mediums ever since.
A lot of my work is inspired by music, especially lyrics, emotion, and the energy of the LA underground rock scene. I like incorporating mixed media and DIY techniques into my work because they give each project a more personal and raw feeling.
Because I’ve spent time around different music scenes, much of my work naturally connects back to the music industry. I work across event photography, behind-the-scenes coverage, portraits, video, and merchandise design. I’m especially interested in capturing the parts of music that feel real and unfiltered, from the stage and the crowd to the backstage moments and everything in between.
One of my biggest goals is to eventually tour with a band and be part of their creative team, whether that’s photographing the tour, creating their merchandise, or helping document the experience along the way. I want my work to feel like an extension of the music and the people behind it.
